  • A new web platform dedicated to electroacoustic music

    electro:thèque is a new web application that allows you to listen to music selected works from the Empreintes Digitales’ catalogue and its composers.

    You have until April 25, to listen online to to Yo soy la desintegración, an opera for voice and electroacoustic tape (music: Jean Piché / libretto: Yan Muckle / concept, stage direction and voice: Pauline Vaillancourt). Produced in 1997 by Chants Libres under the artistic direction of Pauline Vaillancourt, Yo soy la desintegración won the Prix Opuss 1998-1999 for Recording of the year.

    Opera, long considered the total art form, brings together all the scenic arts into a perfect artistic synthesis. And when Chants Libres creates opera, it becomes a total art form with extras, pushing the limits of opera to its farthest reaches.

    To continue our work we need your support.

    You are the key to the creation of new opera. Your donation helps support the work of our artists, the showcasing of their exceptional talents, and the creation of unforgettable moments for our audiences.

    There are many ways to give:

    • By cheque or Visa credit card (download the donation form (pdf)),
    • or online via CanaHelps, a non-profit free service that allows you to easily donate on a one-time basis, or to schedule an automatic monthly gift for the year.

    With a gift of $ 250 or more, you will receive a pair of VIP tickets to the World Premiere of Alexandra, on May 15, 2012, 8:00 PM (Usine C, Montreal) and a copy of a book written by Alexandra David-Néel: Voyage d’une Parisienne à Lhassa.

  • Conversation with Jean Décarie, one of the Videographers of Alexandra

    Jean Décarie, also known as Neam Cathod, is a veritable multifaceted artist, a one-man orchestra of video, multimedia, interactivity, research-creation and electro-acoustic music. He has collaborated with Chants Libres since 2007 when he worked as the visual designer on the augmented opera Alternate Visions (music, John Oliver / libretto, Genni Gunn).
