  • Come Meet Gilles Tremblay… as a Cartoon Character!

The comic book Au pays de l’émerveilleux Gilles Tremblay tells the story of the life and music of the composer through the eyes of three endearing characters who come together on a beach in Charlevoix. Filled with the spirit of the river that is so dear to Tremblay, this travel diary takes us on a voyage between the present and the past in an amazing journey where music becomes love and sharing. A “human” story lovingly told by the children’s author Marie Décary and the illustrator Élisabeth Eudes-Pascal. An initiative of the SMCQ. The book will be launched Saturday the 21st starting at 10:30 PM at the Quebecor Café at the Monument-National.

  • Encourage Creation!

After 5 years of work by more than a hundred people, the one and only opera by Gilles Tremblay and Pierre Morency is finally ready to be unveiled at the big hall of the Monument-National! In order to continue to create new operas, we need your help! All gifts to the company are appreciated.

Those who give 250$ or more will receive:

    • 2 tickets to see a rehearsal with orchestra in the theatre
    • 2 V.I.P. tickets in a section specially reserved for donors
    • A reception with hors-d’oeuvres and drinks with the artists on opening night

Do not miss this chance to live an unforgettable experience!

This year Chants Libres is supported by Placements Culture. For every dollar donated, they will give us double in a matching donation for our endowment fund. Please give generously! (a gift of 250$ = 750$)!

Thanking you in advance for your generosity. A tax receipt will be sent for all donations.

  • A Little More at the Monument-National

The Homage Series dedicated to the works of Gilles Tremblay organized by the SMCQ has plenty of events; in addition to the production this fall of his first opera L’eau qui danse, la pomme qui chante et l’oiseau qui dit la vérité, produced by Chants Libres in the Ludger-Duvernay hall, his Centre-élan will be presented at the Café Quebecor at the Monument-National as part of the Akousma festival, half an hour before the opera. This is a unique and rare opportunity to (re)hear this 8-track work composed especially for the Quebec pavilion at Expo 67, given that Centre-élan was only recently discovered in the archives and digitized by Jean-François Denis, Claude Schryer and Robert Normandeau. A presentation by the Monument-National, the Canadian Music Centre and Réseaux, within PRIM’s superb exhibition of art based on the works of Gilles Tremblay.
