Martin Boisjoly is a multidisciplinary artist who trained in theatre production at Cégep de Saint-Hyacinthe. Over the past 30 years, he has been involved in many theatre, youth theatre, contemporary dance and contemporary opera productions as stage manager, lighting designer, set designer, international tour director and production manager. In the role of assistant stage director, he has worked alongside Marcel Pomerlo, Denis Lavalou, Sylvianne Fortuny, Serge Marois, Joël da Silva and Pauline Vaillancourt. In 2016, he directed two youth shows: Joël da Silva’s La nuit de la patate (Théâtre Magasin) and Philippe Dorin’s Et Voilà encore un beau dimanche de passé! (co-produced by Théâtre La Vieille 17 and Théâtre Magasin). He has been production manager for Chants Libres since 1998 and been involved in 10 of the company’s 17 operas and three special events. In light of his wealth of experience in a variety of areas, Pauline Vaillancourt offered him the position of Executive Director of Chants Libres, which he accepted with great enthusiasm and interest.
