Born in 1981, Marie-Pierre Brasset is a composer of instrumental concert music. She completed a BA in composition at the University of Laval with Éric Morin, and a Masters degree from the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal in Michel Gonneville’s composition class, and Serge Provost’s analysis class. She is currently preparing a doctoral thesis on vocal music at the University of Montreal, under the direction of Isabelle Panneton. In addition to her musical training, she also completed a BA with a major in history, culture and society at the Université du Québec à Montréal. Her music has been performed by many professional ensembles such as the Quatuor Arthur-Leblanc, l’ensemble Erreur de type 27, Quatuor Bozzini, Quatuor Alcan, the Mexican Cello Alterno Ensemble, and the Nouvel ensemble moderne.
