Mr Mallette recently performed the role of Marco for the Opéra de Montréal in Gianni Schicchi, a role he also performed for the Opéra de Québec as part of its annual gala. He is also slated to perform next April as part of the Benefit for the Opéra de Québec Foundation. Elsewhere he has performed the role of Comte Almaviva (The Marriage of Figaro) for the Angers Nantes Opéra and for the Opera Lyra Silver Cast in Ottawa, Bobinet (La Vie parisienne) at the Opéra de Nice and at the the Opéra de Massy, Danilo (La Veuve joyeuse) and Léopold (L’auberge du Cheval blanc) for the Société d’Art Lyrique du Royaume where he also appeared as the King of the Pirates (Pirates of Penzance). He was also part of the cast of the Atelier lyrique de l’Opéra de Montréal as an invited artist playing the role of Gil in their production of Il Segreto di Susanna by Wolf-Ferrari.
He has regularly appeared at the Opéra de Toulon where he performed in Un coin de paradis à Moscou, as well as Cosi fan tutte, La Vie parisienne, La Veuve joyeuse and Un Ballo in maschera. He has also performed in many productions for the Opéra de Montréal and the Atelier Lyrique de l’Opéra de Montréal. Some of these include: Cosi fan tutte, L’Elisir d’amore, Amelia goes to the Ball, Il Segreto di Susanna, Rigoletto, La Traviata, Tosca, L’Italiana in Algeri and La Veuve joyeuse. He has also performed for the Opéra de Marseille in La Veuve joyeuse and was part of the production of Wozzeck, presented at the Théâtre du Nouveau Monde with the Orchestre Métropolitain directed by Lorraine Pintal.
Mr Mallette has also been involved in the world premieres of several operas including Alternate Visions with Chants Libres, and also Pacamambo which was created in Montreal and remounted for the Musicools Festival in Toronto, the Yo! Festival in Utrecht and the World Festival of Art for Young people which was held in Montreal in 2005. He also performed in the creation of the operetta Constance ou les amours by Mozart with the Appassionata Instrumental Ensemble of Montreal.
In concert, he has been a soloist in Dvorak’s Stabat Mater with the Orchestre symphonique du Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean and in Haendel’s Messiah with the New-Brunswick Symphony Orchestra and with La Chapelle in Montreal, he played the role of Jesus in The Passion according to St-John, and The Passion according to St-Matthiew by Bach. He has also performed with the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal as part of the series Jeux d’enfants and more recently with the Orchestre symphonique de Sherbrooke.
Mr Mallette has been awarded grants by the Canada Council for the Arts, the Fondation Jeunesses Musicales du Canada, the Fondation Jacqueline Desmarais for young Canadian opera singers, by the Opéra de Montréal and the Fonds d’insertion en carrière with the Atelier lyrique de l’Opéra de Montréal.
