Born in New-Brunswick in 1974, Pierre Michaud earned a Doctorate in composition from the University of Montreal. He has complimentary studies at the Jan Levoslav Bella Conservatory in Slovakia, at the University of Moncton, at Mount-Allison University and at the Institut de coordination acoustique/musique (IRCAM) in Paris as part of their professional workshops. Michaud returned to Canada in 2000 after spending 6 years in Slovakia, and became increasingly interested in new technologies and their influence on the creative process. His current explorations rest principally on the analysis of human declamation.

Pierre Michaud’s works have been heard in concert series and festivals in many cities in Canada, Central America, Asia and Europe. Some of the performers include: Quatuor Bozzini, l’ensemble de la Société de musique contemporaine du Québec (SMCQ), Susan Narucki, Shanghai Symphony, Winnipeg Symphony, CBC Radio Orchestra and the Bratislava Chamber Soloists. His music was twice broadcast nationally by the State Radio of Slovakia, CBC Radio Two and Espace musique. Pierre Michaud is a professor of composition at the Falculty of Music at the University of Montreal since 2012.
