Born in China to a family of literature professors, Huizi Wang began studying piano at four years old. She began studying percussion in her early twenties at the Conservatoire national à rayonnement régional de Nice in Régis Famelart’s class. After completing her DEM (music studies diploma) as well as a Licentiate in Music Interpretation at the Université de Nice-Sophia-Antipolis, Huizi Wang moved to Montréal where she completed a Master’s in percussion at Université de Montréal in Julien Grégoire’s class. In France, she played with the Orchestre philharmonique de Monaco, Orchestre philharmonique de Cannes and the Orchestre philharmonique de Nice, in addition to participating in many contemporary music events in southern France and in Strasbourg. Soloist, chamber musician and orchestra musician, Huizi Wang, who has been a Montrèal resident for a short time, is working with various creators in the community and carving out a place in the Quebec orchestra community. Her performance is often described as a mix between Zen and high virtuosity.
