As a founding member of Le Vivier, Chants Libres is happy to announce that the Vivier will take possession of the Saint-Sulpice library and create a performance space, an interpretation centre as well as a number of other initiatives for new and contemporary music organizations. The new performance space, situated in the heart of the Latin Quarter and the quartier des spectacles will allow the 22 founding members to reach a larger audience.

Chants Libres is looking for sopranos, mezzo-sopranos, baritones and tenors for its next new opera, Arias. Chants Libres is celebrating its twentieth anniversary by presenting arias from all of the 13 new operas created since the company founding in 1990. Directed by Pauline Vaillancourt, Arias will be performed on May 14, 2011 at the Monument-National in Montreal, in collaboration with the original creative teams of each production, and the Nouvel Ensemble Moderne (NEM) conducted by Lorraine Vaillancourt.
