Montréal, Tuesday, February 16, 2010 — Chants Libres is looking for sopranos, mezzo-sopranos, baritones and tenors for its next new opera, Arias. Chants Libres is celebrating its twentieth anniversary by presenting arias from all of the 13 new operas created since the company founding in 1990. Directed by Pauline Vaillancourt, Arias will be performed on May 14, 2011 at the Monument-National in Montreal, in collaboration with the original creative teams of each production, and the Nouvel Ensemble Moderne (NEM) conducted by Lorraine Vaillancourt.

Chants Libres explores opera in all its forms from chamber operas, a capella operas, operas with small ensembles, large orchestras, or electroacoustic music, while pursuing experimental, traditional or groundbreaking approaches.
