Montréal, Monday, November 8, 2010 — To celebrate our twentieth anniversary, Chants Libres is presenting Arias on May 14th, 2011, at the Ludger-Duvernay theatre at the Monument-National in Montreal.
Directed by Pauline Vaillancourt, Arias will bring together excerpts of the best moments from the 13 operas created and produced by Chants Libres over the course of its 20 year history.
Electr’opera, Virtuel’opera, Chamber operas, Oper’ installation, Techn’opera, Enchanted opera etc, recognized and produced internationally, will be brought back to life.
21 singers will perform ARIAS from composers Alain Thibault, Claude Ballif, Bruce Mather, Giacinto Scelsi, Serge Provost, Jean Piché, Zack Settel, José Evangelista, Louis Dufort, John Oliver and Gilles Tremblay.
The performers are: Stéphanie Lessard, Kristin Hoff, Michiel Schrey, Simon Fournier, Marie-Annick Béliveau, Rebecca Woodmass, Ethel Guéret, Muriel Ferraro, Jessica Wise, Jean Maheux, Dorothea Hayley, Paul Savoie, Christina Tannous, Claudine Ledoux, Ghislaine Deschambault, Jean-François Daignault, Jacynthe Thibault, Fidès Krucker, Pierre-Étienne Bergeron, Scott Belluz and Suzanne Rigden.
Chants Libres is producing the event in collaboration with the Nouvel Ensemble Moderne and Bradyworks, conducted by Lorraine Vaillancourt, with the help of: Jean Bard (Set Design), François Roupinian (Lighting Design), Marianne Thériault (Costume Design) and Jacques-Lee Pelletier (Make-up).
It is an honour for us to host this celebration and give homage to all the creative artists, performers, technicians, administrative staff and donors who have supported and worked with us for 20 years.
