Montréal, Friday, November 11, 2011 — Conceived by Pauline Vaillancourt, with music by Zack Settel and a libretto by Yan Muckle, this chamber opera is inspired by the extraordinary life of the explorer Alexandra David-Néel, and recounts the story of the dangerous and clandestine journey she made in 1924 to the interior of forbidden Tibet accompanied by her adopted son. Having lived more than 100 years (1868-1969), Alexandra David-Néel was alternatively an opera singer, journalist, feminist, Buddhist, writer, explorer and philosopher. Alexandra will be presented at the Usine C (Montreal) from May 15th to the 19th, 2012, and we are happy to announce the members of the creative team and the singers.
