Chants Libres remounts Yo soy la desintegración 20 years after the original production

Montréal, Monday, January 9, 2017 — In Montréal in 1997, Chants Libres created this powerful and evocative opera by the composer Jean Piché and the librettist Yan Muckle. A performance opera for solo voice with an electroacoustic score, Yo soy la desintegración is inspired by the personal diary of the iconic artist Frida Kahlo.

A woman re-explores her memories and revisits her childhood… then comes the accident. We enter the intimate world of a young painter who is dealing with the consequences of a difficult life with tenacity, courage and passion.

Created and directed by Pauline Vaillancourt, with choreography by the renowned visual artist Anita Pantin, this uniquely emotional piece will be performed on this occasion by the soprano Stéphanie Lessard.
