Montréal, Monday, September 10, 2018 —
Chants Libres has its sights set on 2020! We will be celebrating the company’s 30-year anniversary with a new creation: the adaptation into an opera of a major Quebec literary work, L’orangeraie, by Larry Tremblay.
While the writer has created a libretto of his multiple-award-winning novel, the music has been entrusted to Lebanese composer Zad Moultaka. Pauline Vaillancourt, who is directing the production, is once again entrusting the set design to visual artist Dominique Blain after their successful collaboration in 2016 on The Trials of Patricia Isasa, by Kristin Norderval and Naomi Wallace.
For this 30th anniversary, Chants Libres is working again with faithful partners in creation Hexagram-UQAM and the Nouvel Ensemble Moderne, under the musical direction of Lorraine Vaillancourt.
